British Ambassador Urges Cambodia and Thailand to Uphold Ceasefire Ahead of Border Committee Meeting
Phnom Penh, August 2, 2025 —Phnom Penh – British Ambassador to Cambodia Dominic Williams has called on both Cambodia and Thailand to maintain the current ceasefire and support progress at the upcoming General Border Committee (GBC) meeting, scheduled for August 4 in Malaysia.
“The UK welcomes the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, which has allowed me to travel up to the border areas and meet some of the people affected by the fighting,” Ambassador Williams wrote on his official Facebook page.
On August 1, Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn led a delegation of foreign diplomats to Banteay Ampil district in Oddar Meanchey province, where they observed damage reportedly caused by Thai shelling during recent clashes.
